World of Warcraft server that featured the MMO's early days before any expansions were added. Blizzard met with the team behind Nostalrius recently, and now we know what the two talked about, and what Blizzard is on the subject of servers that are old.

"After this meeting, we're able to confirm that these guys would like to keep legacy WoW servers, that's absolutely true," said project manager Viper on the Nostalrius forums. "We have done everything we could for this meeting to be as professional & discussion as professional as it could be This evidently was a nice surprise surprise for the whole Blizzard team, including CEO Mike Morhaime being just one of them." The scheduled time for the meeting was under two hours but ended up running for more than five hours. Viper says she was Blizzard was "very interested, curious, and attentive." Attendees included actor Morhaime, the executive producer J. Allen Brack, and director of games Tom Chilton. Viper adds that the Nostalrius team was "very delighted by the deep respect and admiration they all had for" the work on their legacy servers they'd done. The conversations that took place included the pirate server's history and how it was created along with other technical details such as the anti-cheat system that the team created for Nostalrius. However, nothing in regards to the idea of bringing official servers to existence was confirmed. "First of all, don't forget that at a company of this size the decision-making process is not made at one time and they are entitled to announce any official yes or no them-self," Viper wrote. Viper added that Blizzard does have an open source for "Vanilla WoW," and it would require "tremendous effort" to get up and running.

"In addition to the technical requirements of releasing a legacy server Blizzard should also be able to deliver an extremely well-crafted game that will be accessible to their millions players, something that the current unofficial legacy servers can't provide," Viper wrote. The technical work will need to be accomplished on the Nostalrius buy WOTLK Gold forums.
