In 1996, the Air Jordan XI forever changed footwear. The New Air Jordan Shoes is one of the most loved sneakers out there to date. Released in 1996, the shoe brought success to Jordan's returning career to basketball winning MVP award twice for the regular season. The flashy yet still classy design arrived just as MJ was returning to the hardwood and would go on to release in a number of iconic colorways. Now returning in original form, this iconic look first made its debut on MJ's feet during the 1995 postseason. Since his game-winning shot that brought championship glory to North Carolina, Michael Jordan has been at the forefront of basketball consciousness. He took the court in 1985 wearing the original Air Jordan I, simultaneously breaking league rules and his opponents' will while capturing the imagination of fans worldwide.
New Jordans 2017, Two decades later, the legend that is the Air Jordan XI is celebrated with the return of the silhouette in original form. The remastered edition features a premium construction with a higher patent leather cut, subtle concord accents and MJ's number 45 stitched on the heel. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Jordan 11 was the first Air Jordan to feature patent leather and carbon fiber in addition to cordura nylon. The original Jordan 11 was released from 1995-1996 in both mid cut and low cut IE colorways. The sneaker returned in 2000 for its first retro run and the debut of the patent leather low top version. The Air Jordan 11 continues to be one of the most popular Air Jordans of all-time with many retro releases in its vast catalog of colorways.
One of the more attention-grabbing New Jordans 2016 silhouettes, the Air Jordan 11 design is based on the classic tuxedo dress shoe. Designed by Tinker Hatfield while hoping MJ would return to the NBA, the shoe is composed of ballistic nylon mesh along the top half, with shiny patent leather sitting below. We've also seen low-top versions release that do away with the patent leather look. While patent leather has a formal look, it also served a true purpose. Tinker Hatfield thought that Nike should pull out all the stops and make a shoe out of materials that had never been used in a basketball shoe. At first, Tinker was thinking of using some high-end nylons, but good thing he changed his mind. Tinker wanted the Air Jordan 11 to look like a convertible, with a shiny body, so that is why the Air Jordan XI had patent leather.
