According to new New Jordans 2017 freshly added to the J23 app, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "Banned" appears amongst several notable Retro releases. The reported release date is September 3, 2016 with retail slated at $160. In posting the information, J23 notes, ""Banned" is a nickname, that is all of the information I have." This latest development supports the Air Jordan 1 "Bred" story that we reported on earlier this month so it appears that they will indeed be dropping next year. Whether or not its the coveted "Banned" model, we'll have to wait and see. The model became infamous during the ’80s when Michael Jordan notoriously wore his pair to Chicago Bulls games. Disregarding the NBA’s “uniformity of uniform” rule that posited that “A player must wear shoes that not only matched their uniforms, but matched the shoes worn by their teammates,” ex-NBA commissioner David Stern apparently threw the shoes out of the game. Legend has it that MJ chose to pay fines (a rumored $5,000 USD per game) to the league every time he wore his Breds, and eventually, the NBA issued an outright ban of the bold red and black sneakers on-court.The short footage provides us with a glimpse at the new “Bred” 1s, as the OG is widely regarded as one of the best Jordan releases ever. You can look forward to the return of the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” taking place on September 3, the same day as the Air Jordan 31 “Bred.”

The last time each model released, they had the good fortune of just starting the trend to bring back the coveted ‘Nike Air’ branding on the tongue which pleased traditionalists and a new generation of sneakerheads alike. Both of these colorways missed out on the remastering process but still demand some of the highest prices on the resale market.
